Bio

Victoria Keeton is an assistant professor at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis. She is a maternal-child health nurse scientist with expertise in health inequities research and the biopsychosocial impacts of social needs on children and families from minoritized communities. Keeton’s research focuses on the social causes and health consequences of stress in caregivers and children, especially in Latinx families and communities of color who experience socioeconomic disadvantage. Specifically, she studies biomarkers of metabolic disease and emotional dysregulation and mechanisms of maternal-fetal programming that may predispose children to metabolic or mental health conditions.

Q: Where did you grow up?

A: Huntington Beach, CA

Q: What drew you to this field?

A: Frustration as a pediatric primary care provider, seeing my patients negatively impacted by so many health inequities driven by structural and social factors.

Q: Where are you happiest outside of work?

A: At home with my family, or walking my dog while listening to a good audiobook

A: Clean! I have organizers for my organizers ;)
